LDM Toronto is a long-distance moving service provider, dedicated to operating solely out of the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) to facilitate long-distance moves across Canada and into the United States. The company’s primary focus is long-distance moves, rather than local moves or general freight services. All of LDM Toronto’s trucks, movers and coordinators work for LDM Toronto directly.
LDM Toronto was established by Ted Michaud in 2020 after he recognized that there was an untapped market for long-distance moving services for individuals moving out of the Toronto area, and that there was an overwhelming lack of clarity regarding pricing and accountability for long-distance moving companies within the Toronto area. Today, LDM Toronto has performed 517 long-distance moves in 6 years, at a 4.9-star Google Customer Rating (134 customer reviews).
LDM Toronto’s founding principles as set out in 2020 continue to guide each and every long-distance move handled by LDM Toronto today.

Some facts about our company

LDM Toronto has all the necessary legal documents to do interprovincial and cross-border moving. We also hold any Certificate of Insurance that a Toronto condominium board or building manager will require us to provide, if requested.

All moves are performed by LDM Toronto’s own employees. Our crew and our trucks perform all the work. We do not send out portions of jobs to third-party carriers or outside contractors, and the crew that loads your goods in Toronto will be the same crew that delivers them at their final destination.

All quotes you receive are confirmed with you in writing prior to beginning work. All quoted amounts are fixed prices. You will never be charged any additional fees due to fuel surcharges or anything else; you will never receive a phone call from a driver asking for more money upon delivery.
2020
Ted Michaud founded LDM Toronto with a specific focus: long-distance residential and commercial relocations out of the Greater Toronto Area. The company launched with its own trucks and a small team of full-time movers, with no use of third-party contractors or brokers.
2021 – 2022
LDM Toronto expanded its fleet and took on a broader range of routes, including regular runs to Calgary, Vancouver, and Ottawa. Cross-border moves to the United States became a growing part of the business, requiring the team to develop working knowledge of Canada/US customs documentation and border procedures.
2023 – 2024
Dedicated moving coordinators were added to manage the growing volume of bookings and ensure consistent communication with clients throughout each move. The company reached 300 completed long-distance moves.
2025 – 2026
LDM Toronto surpassed 500 completed long-distance moves. The company now regularly services routes across all Canadian provinces and into major US cities including New York, Miami, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
Today
LDM Toronto operates under the same model it launched with: company-owned trucks, full-time crews, written quotes, and no broker handoffs. 517 moves completed.

Ted Michaud
Founder
Ted started LDM Toronto in 2020 after watching long-distance moves get mishandled by companies that would take the booking and pass the job off to whoever was available. His focus from day one was building a company where accountability stayed in-house, from the first call to the final delivery.
Sarah Chen
Operations Manager
Sarah manages the day-to-day coordination of all active moves, working directly with clients from the time of booking through to delivery. She joined LDM Toronto in 2021 and has overseen more than 400 long-distance relocations.
Marcus Reid
Lead Moving Coordinator
Marcus handles the logistics side of each move: route planning, elevator and loading zone bookings, and cross-border documentation for US-bound shipments. He is familiar with the specific access requirements of downtown Toronto condo buildings and coordinates with building management ahead of every move.

A 20-foot moving truck is suitable for hauling items from a studio or one-bedroom apartment. It will carry the majority of the furniture and personal property from a smaller home, with room for boxes, appliances, and wrapped furniture.

A 28-foot moving truck is used for two- and three-bedroom homes. It will comfortably hold all of your larger pieces of furniture, all of your appliances, and the complete contents of your home in one load. This is the most common type of vehicle used in long-distance residential moves out of the Greater Toronto Area.

A 40-foot moving truck is used for large home relocations and commercial moves. This size is the ideal choice for moving the contents of a four-bedroom house, a multi-room office, or if you have a large number of pieces of furniture or equipment to move.
LDM Toronto services clients across the Greater Toronto Area, including Brampton, Mississauga, Vaughan, Markham, Scarborough, and neighbouring communities. LDM Toronto provides long-distance moving services throughout Canada and into the United States.
As of 2026, LDM Toronto has completed 517 long-distance moves.
LDM Toronto handles long-distance moves only. All of our trucks and our full-time employees handle each customer’s move, and we do not broker work to outside contractors or third parties. Customers receive a written quote prior to moving day, and their belongings are loaded and delivered by the same crew throughout the entire move.
LDM Toronto provides a delivery time frame at the time of booking and continually keeps customers updated on the status of their move. Our move coordinators track each move from pickup to delivery and will reach out proactively if anything changes to the original delivery plan.
Yes. LDM Toronto is fully insured for all long-distance moves, including interprovincial moves and cross-border relocations to the United States. LDM Toronto can also provide Certificates of Insurance as required by a condo board or building manager in the City of Toronto.
